This creator will allow you to put different pieces of various weapons together to create a kind of template for a weapon. It's mostly meant for inspiration as there are no colors, but if you're a little creative and confident enough with an editing program you can create some fun results. I kept the weapons white on purpose. Not only does this make it easier for people who want to edit them, but I feel like this also helps with opening up to more creative possibilities.

I could've colored all the blades in a metal color for example, but there are way more possibilities and some people might not see them when the focus is on that metal color. I've colored the same sword three times to further illustrate my point see below.

It's very straight forward. Simply click on the tabs for the parts you need and on the images to use the specific part you want. Click on the same icon again to remove it or click on the 'clear all' button to clear the entire canvas. It's possible to save up to 4 weapons, you can do so by simply clicking the save buttons at the bottom of the creator. This will save the weapon with all the pieces locally in your browser.

This only works if you don't use incognito mode and only if you use a modern browser so no IE7 for example. You can close your browser after you've clicked save, it'll still be there when you open it again. When you want to load a weapon, simply click the corresponding load button and it'll put all the pieces you saved back in place. If you wish to save the weapon you've created all you have to do is click the 'Turn into image' button and an image will appear below it that looks exactly like what you've created.

The only difference being that this is a single image, rather than a whole lot of separate images. Simply right click it, select 'save as' and name it what you wish. That's all there is to it. In prehistoric times, wars were fought with clubs, axes, and spears. In Greco-Roman times, they were fought with swords and shields.

In the Middle Ages, battering rams, catapults, and crossbows were common. And during the Industrial Revolution, cannons and guns were the norm. Today, the weapons used in war are a lot more sophisticated, consisting not only of tanks and torpedoes but also of technology, including computers, GPS, radar, and even robots. All of that requires the expertise of a Weapons Engineer. Using computer-aided design CAD software, you address questions of weight, shape, velocity, aerodynamics, and impact in order to design weapons that hit their target and fulfill their mission, efficiently and effectively.

To do this, you integrate mechanical, electrical, and computer systems — including radar, sonar, explosives, and ballistics — into designs for missiles, bombs, rockets, and mines. You also act as a Project Manager who delegates tasks to Engineering Technicians and Engineering Technologists to make sure weapons are designed, tested, and manufactured on time and on budget.

Simply put: Although the military handles the firing, launching, engaging, and dropping of weapons, you handle the thinking, planning, and designing of them. Articles Profiles Majors. Sign In Post a Job.

Everyone has their own personal favourites. It could be the sniper rifle that can hit a target with pinpoint accuracy, or it could be the shotgun that rips an enemy to shreds.

Its accuracy, how it sounds, the reload time Players want to feel bad-ass when using the gun, so naturally the gun should look bad-ass, too. Cool-looking weapons can come in all shapes and sizes, but some themes remain consistent. Over the past few years I've had the opportunity to design some of the weapons for the Mass Effect franchise. I've come to realise that some basic design principles are universal and apply to weapon design as much as they do for character design and environment art.

The Rule of Thirds, composition and creating unique silhouettes are just some principles to keep in mind when trying to create a successful design. In this workshop, I'll describe some of these principles a little further, as well as offering some of my own tricks that I've picked up over the years. Before starting the design it's important to gather all necessary information about the gun from the game's designers, such as the type of weapon it is assault rifle, shotgun, compact pistol and so onwhere the hands need to be, or the maximum allowable size of the gun.

Are there moving parts when the gun fires? Does the gun require an ammo slot? Is there a specific alien race that this gun is designed for? What's the backstory of this gun? All these points are important to keep in mind, and serve as the boundaries to work within when concepting the weapon.

Studying real-world weapons gives you a better understanding of how guns should function.

Research for made-up weapons gives you an idea of how far others have pushed their designs. In general, the goal is to be as original as possible. Think in three-dimensional space, and design from all angles. Although I've only shown the profile view in the majority of my weapon concepts, a lot of work has been done to design the weapons from every aspect.

Focus on creating an interesting silhouette from a range of views. I start off by doing simple thumbnails in greyscale with just a simple Round brush at per cent Opacity. No shading or colour — just a light, medium and dark tone.

At this stage I'm concerned purely with the shape of the design and the relationship between the different tones. The focus is on silhouettes and the big broader shapes. By producing these thumbnails, I'm trying to capture the main essence of the design at this early point in the design process.

Sometime you'll find opportunities to continue an existing theme for a design.

Here, the repeating chrome parts from the Quarian architecture served as a strong theme to implement in the shotgun. Each alien race has their own specific styles and it was important that we showed that in the weapons. Unless the weapon's design requires a series of repeating shapes, I try not to space out details evenly across the weapon, which tends to create a boring design. Instead, I apply the rule of thirds by placing detail elements a third of the distance from a specific part of the weapon.

This works vertically, horizontally and diagonally. Leaving areas empty helps balance out all the detailed parts of the weapon.

Because the Mass Effect style has more of a clean and sleek design about it, it's important to pay attention to the flow of the design elements. I try to continue lines and seams to maintain the clean, streamlined feel.Firearms engineers use computer-aided design applications and in-depth knowledge of firearms to create new firearms and make improvements to existing guns. Because firearms engineers are a subset of mechanical engineers, becoming a firearm engineer typically involves attaining a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and gaining additional education and experience in firearms.

To meet employer requirements, it's common to take an internship at a gun manufacturer as a student or begin your career in another mechanical engineering field to gain initial experience. If a career designing firearms fits your interests, you can earn a decent firearm engineer salary and be able to progress to a senior engineering role when you have five or more years of work experience.

Firearms engineers use research and the specifications a company gives them to come up with ideas for how a gun should look and what components and features it should have. This can include such technical details as how much the gun weighs, how fast it should fire, and the level of impact it should have. Common duties include creating detailed drawings and models of firearms using software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, making functional gun prototypes for testing purposes, meeting with management and engineering staff to determine if the new firearm design is feasible to produce, and assisting with quality control to make changes to the design and fix production issues.

Besides having technical knowledge of firearms, successful firearms engineers need creativity and problem-solving skills to make functional and innovative designs for their firms. Like other mechanical engineers, firearms engineers usually have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and some continue with a master's degree program.

They learn how to use computer-aided design and drafting software to design a variety of products and take additional courses in mathematics, science and design. Aspiring firearms engineers may seek an internship at a firearms manufacturer to learn more about gun design and development. Employers often require both prior work experience in the firearms industry and expertise in weaponry.

Therefore, taking additional courses about how to design a gun or enrolling in a short-term certificate program in gun design is helpful. In JunePayScale. Firearms engineers typically work for gun manufacturers or firearms modification companies, although some work for the government or contract with design firms to complete projects.

How to Become a Professional Gun Designer

They work closely with the firm's research and development team and other engineering professionals during the planning, design and testing processes. Most firearms engineers work full-time office jobs with occasional overtime. They do not frequently travel but may occasionally visit sites where guns are made to assist with problems that occur during production. Firearm engineers have the potential to earn a generous income with raises based on their experience and promotion opportunities to senior engineering positions.

Has a wide variety of parts, but only Larue Tactical items in the categories of stuff they make rails etc. The lack of this feature makes creating ridiculous looking rifles a breeze though. Quite a few part and accessories to choose from as well.

Since it uses Brownells inventory, it really gives a good idea of the amount of money your build is costing you as you drop the parts in.

This has the obvious downside though of only being able to select inventory that Brownells carries. The parts and accessories are all vector graphics ie. There are an incredible amount to choose from though! No snap feature on here either as far as I can tell…. Not only did they shamefully steal the name of my 3 favorite weapon building website, but they also shit the bed on the interface, and basically the entire concept. It did allow me to create the AK picture below though, which I am incredibly proud of not.

I was working on a gun builder awhile ago but never finished it. My main goal was to have as many parts as possible, including some less popular ones from small companies. I liked! And lol Mike. I love you for that Advice…. Creating allready invented weaponry?

This may be of interest to some of you, but the 3rd site, Pimp My Gun, has a Flickr page full of outlandish creations, many of which are actually very well done. People there can do some wild stuff with the program, and come out with a lotta cool designs. I know about the platform I dont need to use a builder to put one together.

I wish I wish OpsGear sold higher quality stuff. To bad the majority of the crap they sell is Condor and other cheap shit. Def not millspec anything. Dont ask… I built a rig a while back and I have just about every piece I bought for it. Go to Google and type in gunstruction. You can build in preconstructed sections uppers, lowers, butt stocks, etc. Or you can explode the weapon build it from scratch piece by piece from the barrel to the trigger pins.

Then you can accessorize, view, or even paint each individual part. You can also select the option to look down the sights to get a good odds of what your rifle will look like from that angle. Try it out. They also have a gunstruction app for Apple or Android in standard definition or high definition though frankly both are really slow-i have an android. I was curious for a website like these but I they dont help much.
